The Girl's
Guide to the Emo Look
This isn't the
first time that the world has seen the emo look. Truth be told,
it has been around for more than a decade already but this is
the first time that it has become a widely appreciated fashion
trend. Originally, only a select few would want to be caught
dead in skinny jeans, faded sneakers and body hugging shirts.
These days, however, everyone is clamoring to make the look
blend into dignified society.
Fashion
magazines have started resurrecting the look and even going so
far as prescribing age-appropriate emo hairstyles for girls.
It's interesting how the emo hair has become one of the most
popular trends today when it was all but ignored before. In any
case, pulling off this look is pretty simple especially if
you're in your teens to twenties. Thirtysomethings may have a
harder time trying to wear this type of hairstyle but feel free
to try it anyway.
The
look
The emo
hairstyle for girls usually consists of very long fringe bangs
swept to one side. The hair can be worn long or short but is
generally shaggy and dyed a jet black. Straight hair works
great with the emo look. The most common cut is shoulder-length
with uneven layers that frame the
face.
As earlier
mentioned, jet black is the usual emo hair color but if you're
a bit adventurous, you can also go ahead and try subtle
highlights. Light blonde will also look good on the
hairstyle.
Many girls
tend to go for the longer emo hairstyle rather than the short
one. For the most part, a longer hair is easier to style and
dress up according to one's mood. You can let it down or tie it
up in a loose ponytail. For those who have the misfortune to
have naturally wavy or curly hair, an anti-frizz serum would do
wonders in helping you pull off the emo look. Just keep your
hair as smooth as possible and make sure your bangs look well
maintained and you should be good to
go.
Many young/teen women use their hair styles to
express their emotions and attitude, and emo hairstyles
for girls are just as popular these days as those among
young emo men.
